After the upgrade from potato to woody to unstable the Debian boxes
have some flaws concerning keys, fonts and encodings. The following
list sums up current problems:
- Displaying german manpages with
man -l foo man-db
does not display german umlauts anymore. This doesn't seem to be
a bug in the pager less since you won't see umlauts when
redirecting the manpage into a file. This changes if you run
man-db within screen
- When using
screen umlauts are displayed. However,
not all combinations of umlauts will be visible, you must not
group two umlauts: thus "gemäß" becomes "gem", "müßte" becomes
"mte".
- After the upgrade the backspace key in an Xterm doesn't behave as
BS anymore.
- After the upgrade, the ALT-key doesn't work in Xterm anymore, it
beeps and adds a character but doesn't forward the proper key to
bash.
