Improved design for Infodrom Oldenburg

Von Joey Schulze, 18.11.2006
The main website of Infodrom Oldenburg has received a major overhaul that results in a much nicer and more user-friendly design.

The overhaul of the entire website took place last weekend an this week. It was started with converting the old table-based menu to a nice CSS based menu with a little bit of reaction to user interaction. By doing this the colour scheme was reworked and less intense colours were chosen. However, the main character of the menu and of the site has been kept.

This was achieved by switching from a purely table-based menu to a CSS based one. This also has the benefit of being much more friendly to text-only browsers and handicapped people who use a screen reader and stuff. By adding #content the user also can jump to the content of the page directly.

The main layout has also been moved away from a table-based design in order to comply with more modern design techniques and layout ideas. Even though the menu is active and reacts to user interaction it works without JavaScript. Several pages on which a user can or should input something have been reworked as well.
