Gerstensaft2006-11-20: Development resumedAfter several years of plain existance development on Gerstensaft has been resumed a few days ago. After the Debian project decided to pay some of its developers, my priority for Debian work has dropped so that other projects suddenly became more important, e.g. Gerstensaft. Fortunately, this freed time to finish the port to version 2 of the GIMP toolkit (Gtk) which has been started by Holger Levsen. Several classes within Gtk have been changed and improved, hence, a lot of work was needed to overhaul the software. This, however, also gave time to implement a long-standing item on the todo list nobody bothered to work on before: the receive module. Development on this has been finished and made Gerstensaft a lot more user friendly. It can now operate as fully-integrated solution for sending and receiving files with the SAFT protocol. As a bonus to the user a third module has been developed for
sending messages via SAFT. This allows users to send messages to
other users on remote machines, similar to the Unix The development happens in the CVS HEAD branch and will lead to a new release in the near future. Joey
