Debian-Project - Release Goals for Version 2.1

Regular goals for every upcoming release

These are regular goals. They can't delay any particular release. Some of them are project goals that have nothing to do with the release itself.
  1. Package most recent versions of software where possible.

  2. Fix all known security problems before the release.

  3. Make it a small, incremental release. Make the primary thing to strive for the ability to keep a deadline. (liw)

  4. Developer controlled automatic archive maintenance. Removal of packages automatically after GPG signed email with list of packages to delete. (mmitchell)

It's not clear if this will be accepted, I don't think so. (joey)

  5. Lintian check by default at end of dpkg-buildpackage (mmitchell)
